I believe that every human should be treated fairly and have the same opportunities to receive an education that will enable them to be successful in the future they desire. My belief stems from my disbelief from the ongoing inequities that continue to exist in today’s society and education system. Equity and respect are non-negotiables in education. Every human is different, so they deserve to be met at their level. Collaborating with people that share a growth mindset and grit, we will start affecting one person at a time. Through the same values that lead my personal life, clear communication, patience, honesty, respect and perseverance, I plan to share my mission with others.

Wow! Fantastic Declaration Statement. I wholeheartedly agree that we need to truly teacher our students equally. I am learning that teaching students equally does not necessarily mean the same. Each of our students comes with a unique set of characteristics that are genetic or cultural and without embracing those differences and sharing them with the class we miss teaching the whole student.

Thank you for such a powerful submission. Obviously your values are strong and I expect they guide your practice and will be further articyulated throughout your developing platform. Some of what you have here will probably be cut for the intro and placed elsewhwere as you craft the platform. In this section however, I think I want you to push deeper into your declaration that receive an education that will enable them to be successful in the future they desire." What are some of the parameters of that success in the future they desire? Even stated in the most broad and inclusive terms, what are the types of skills, experiences, discoveries and outcomes that an education based on respect and equity might include?I look forward to seeing your platform unfold over the next weeks.
