Hello!
My name is Monica Martinez. I have been in education for over 15 years. The first 7 years, I was an Instructional Aide, then a Case Manager, providing academic services, for 14-21 year-olds, and then a Prevention Specialist and Program Coordinator for the Imperial County Of Education providing prevention services to high school students throughout the Imperial County. During this time I earned my B.A. in English and gained valuable knowledge and experience that prepared me for the classroom. Eight years ago, I was hired as an English Teacher at Desert Oasis High School, an alternative high school in El Centro, CA. This year, I accepted the assignment of being an Instructional Coach for the Central Union High School District.

My source of strength is my beautiful and witty daughter, Nancy Renee. Being her mother is the most important job I will ever have. Without realizing it, she has provided me with priceless lessons about life and love that I don't believe I could have learned from anyone else. Until recently, did I understand how I have transferred and applied these lessons to my professional life, and as a result they have enabled me to teach, support and guide my students in the right direction.
I love my profession! Everyday is a new day and there is nothing more rewarding then sharing my passion of learning and seeing the impact that it can have on a young person.
